Columbus Grove woman dies in one-vehicle crash

MONROE TOWNSHIP — A Columbus Grove woman died early Wednesday morning after her vehicle went off the side of a rural road and struck a utility pole.

Jill A. Perham, 61, of Columbus Grove, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, according to the Lima post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Steven Perham, 60, of Columbus Grove, was the front-seat passenger and was transported to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s with non-life threatening injuries.

At approximately 3:32 a.m., troopers responded to the scene on Hillville Road, east of state Route 65 in Allen County. The 2009 Mercury Mariner sport utility vehicle driven by Perham headed west on Hillville Road when it traveled off the left side of the road. The SUV went through a ditch, struck a utility pole and traveled over railroad tracks before stopping in a ditch.

Cairo-Monroe Fire and EMS, Blake’s Towing and the Allen County Coroner’s Office assisted at the scene. The patrol’s press release said it was unknown if alcohol or seat belts were factors in the crash.
