COLUMBUS — A former member of the Ohio House of Representatives has been recommended to fill a recently vacated seat in that chamber.
Jim Hoops of Napoleon was recommended by an applicant screening panel to fill the 81st House District seat vacancy. Robert McColley had formerly served in that role, but he moved to fill a vacancy in the Ohio Senate left after former Sen. Cliff Hite resigned in October. Hite left after a complaint of sexual harassment was made against him.
Hoops had previously served in the House from 1999 to 2006 and is currently the associate vice president for strategic initiatives at Northwest State Community College. Hoops is expected to be sworn in Jan. 17.
Ohio’s 81st House District encompasses all of Putnam, Henry and Williams Counties and a portion of Fulton County.
