LIMA — A juvenile male already in custody as a suspect in a Lima armed robbery on New Year’s Eve has been linked to a similar robbery two days earlier.
According to the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, the 17-year-old male who who was shot by a store employee during the Dec. 31 armed robbery attempt at Hermie’s Carryout in Perry Township is also now charged in the Dec. 29 armed heist at Slix Party Shop at 1801 N. North Dixie Highway in Lima.
The suspect in the Slix Party Shop robbery was captured on the store’s surveillance video wearing dark clothing and a mask that covered most of his face. The assailant, described as a 5-foot-6, thin, light-skinned black male, reportedly was carrying a shotgun when he ordered two female employees to open the cash registers inside the party shop. He removed money before fleeing southbound on Stewart Road. The incident occurred shortly before noon on Friday.
The incident at Hermie’s Carryout, 1802 St. Johns Road, took place at approximately 10 a.m. on Dec. 31 when gunfire was exchanged during an armed robbery attempt between the suspect and a store employee. The alleged robber was struck in the chin while the employee suffered a gunshot wound to the foot. Both were taken to area hospitals, where they were each treated and released. The suspect was then taken into custody and is currently being held at the Allen County Juvenile Detention Center.
