St. Marys cops recover $5K of suspected meth in traffic stop


ST. MARYS — St. Marys police recovered approximately 113 grams of suspected methamphetamine on New Year’s Eve following a traffic stop.

According to information released by St. Marys Police Chief Jacob Sutton, officers stopped a vehicle on Chestnut Street at approximately 11:50 p.m. Sunday after a K-9 officer alerted officers. The suspected meth found inside the vehicle had a street value of approximately $5,000, Sutton said.

Arrested were Casey Hammond, 34, and Tiffany Turner, 29, both of Coldwater. Each were charged with a second-degree felony count of possession of drugs. Also arrested was Tyler Hammond, 27, of Coldwater, on a warrant issued by Mercer County.

Members of the Grand Lake Task Force assisted with the investigation, which is still ongoing. Sutton said additional charges may be filed.
