LIMA —An attempted robbery of a Perry Township Carry Out was thwarted by an alert employee who exchanged gunfire with the robbery suspect, according to police.
According to Lt. Todd Mohler with the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, the department received a call just after 10 a.m. today to respond to Hermie’s Carryout, 1802 St. Johns Road, concerning an armed robbery.
“During the robbery attempt, gunfire was exchanged between an employee and the suspect. Both were struck by gunfire,” Mohler said.
The employee was wounded in the foot while the robbery suspect was struck in the chin.
The employee was taken to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s while the suspect was taken to Lima Memorial Hospital. Both were treated and released.
The suspect was taken into custody and faces undetermined charges.
The names of those involved have not yet been released.
