LIMA — Lima firefighters responded to an early-morning house fire on Wednesday that caused $6,500 in damages to a residence.
According to a spokesman for the Lima Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched at 12:42 a.m. Wednesday to a home at 801 W. Richie Ave. Upon their arrival, they found the occupant of the home, Tameka Traylor, outside the residence and smoke coming from the first floor of the dwelling. A fire was detected and quickly extinguished in the kitchen area of the home.
The fire department spokesman said one firefighter suffered minor injuries while battling the blaze. The home is owned by Blue Chip Housing.
The Red Cross was called for find temporary housing for Traylor.
