LIMA — A basement fire resulted in $70,000 in damage Tuesday in Shawnee Township.
The Shawnee Township Fire Department received notification of a smoke alarm at 2:38 p.m. from 798 Kiowa Trail in Indianbrook. En route, the department was notified that the house was on fire.
The fire was localized in the basement area, and no one was in the residence at the time. With mutual aid from the American Township Fire Department and Lima Allen County Paramedics, the Shawnee Fire Department remained on the scene for more than four hours and was able to contain the fire in the basement. However, smoke damage spread throughout the house, resulting in an estimated $70,000 in damage. No one was injured during the incident.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
