LIMA — The Lima Family YMCA has released a fitness application and will bring in new strength training equipment this week, the organization announced Monday.
The YMCA will add 17 pieces of Matrix Fitness Equipment on Wednesday, which will replace the 19-year-old Nautilus strength training equipment that has been used since the Y opened at its current location. The equipment is the “latest and greatest in the fitness world” and is more “user-friendly,” said the YMCA’s membership navigator, Melissa Frey.
The Lima YMCA fitness app went live Friday, and is available for free in the iTunes Store and Google Play. With the fitness app, members can scan in with their membership cards and track their workouts. The app’s main screen has a “find a class” button, as well as challenges people can take part in, a goal center for setting targets, the ability to record workouts, and a workout history tab that allows members to see how they have improved over time.
The app also enables members to connect with other fitness apps and devices, such as Fitbit or MapMyFitness, review the Y’s social media pages, and schedule training sessions.
