No one hurt after woman drives into Elida house

LIMA — A driver struck a home at 1:06 p.m. Friday at 207 E. Kiracofe Ave., Elida. Two people were inside the house.

The American Township Fire Department responded, with others, said Platoon Chief Joel Will.

The female driver had fled.

“When we got there, nobody was around the vehicle. She was later tracked down by law enforcement,” Will said, adding he could not release her name. He said only the chief could, and he wasn’t available.

No one was injured, he said.

“I would say there was moderate damage to the house,” Will said. “There was damage to the foundation.”

According to the Allen County Auditor’s website, 207 E. Kiracofe Ave. is owned by Deborah K. Vanbuskirk and the value is estimated at $55,100.

The American Township Fire Department was back in service at 2 p.m., Will said.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol and Elida Police Department were on the scene as well. The Highway Patrol did not have any information available on the accident Friday. The Elida Police Department did not return a voicemail requesting information about the accident Friday.
