LIMA — A Lima company was recently singled out by the Ohio Secretary of State’s Office, receiving recognition for its work Friday.
Gasdorf Tool and Machine Co. was included in Secretary of State Jon Husted’s Ohio Business Profile July program, which marked “Made in Ohio” month, highlighting various manufacturers in the state. On Friday, a representative from Husted’s office presented Gasdorf Tool and Machine owner Mark Krohn with a certificate of appreciation for being included in the profile.
“I’m honored,” Krohn said. “For a small company in Lima to have recognition statewide is an honor. I’m surprised, actually, but happy about it.”
Gasdorf Tool and Machine services a number of companies in Lima, in Ohio and nationwide through reverse engineering of various mechanical systems, constructing replacement machine parts as needed. This is especially essential for businesses that may use older equipment where replacement parts are not readily available from the manufacturer.
“We do repair work, special fixtures, some fabrication, anything a customer needs to get them back up and running,” Krohn said. “We do a lot of work for local businesses to keep their production going.”
Area businesses working with Gasdorf include Husky Energy, INEOS and Nickles Bakery, among others, according to Krohn.
“A lot of times, they can no longer get replacement parts for a piece of equipment, or the replacement part has too long of a lead time where they’d be down for too long, so we’re able to reverse engineer the part and make it to get them back up and running,” he said.
Gasdorf Tool and Machine Co. has been in operation since 1953.
