SIDNEY — Veterans of Foreign Wars District Commander Tommie Leininger has achieved All-American status, the VFW announced.
Leininger, the 2016-17 commander of VFW District Two in Ohio, is the only district commander in Ohio and one of only 64 VFW district commanders worldwide to earn the title of All-American Commander. To achieve this honor, a district commander must meet strict requirements in their role, including exceptional leadership, authentic accomplishment in membership growth and strong support of VFW core programs, according to a press release.
District Two of the VFW Department of Ohio includes 22 VFW Posts in eight counties in northwest Ohio, including Allen, Auglaize, Logan, Hardin, Mercer, Putnam, Shelby and Van Wert. District Two helps to protect the rights of all VFW-eligible veterans, including nearly 5,000 local member veterans, and their families. The VFW is also active in their local communities, schools and civic activities.
