ATV crash in Putnam County results in serious injury

CLOVERDALE — A crash occurred involving an all-terrain vehicle at approximately 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

Ryan Hamilton, 29, of Cloverdale, was operating a 2005 all-terrain vehicle southbound on Road 19, near the intersection of Road L, in Putnam County, and for unknown reasons suddenly activated the brakes. The rapid deceleration caused the ATV to flip from end to end, ejecting Hamilton.

Hamilton suffered serious injuries and was transported to St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima, where he remains in critical condition as of Monday.

He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and alcohol is suspected in the crash.

The State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Kalida EMS, Kalida Fire Department and Meyer’s Towing.
