Hancock County resident shoots juvenile in midst of breaking and entering


HOUCKTOWN — A juvenile was shot after an armed homeowner discovered two juveniles inside an outbuilding, according to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred at 1:46 a.m. Monday on county Road 8, near Houcktown. A resident discovered the two juveniles inside the building and confronted them with a weapon. During the incident, one of the juveniles was shot.

The juvenile was transported to Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay with non-life threatening injuries and was treated, released and transported to the Wood County Juvenile Detention Center on a breaking and entering charge, as was the other juvenile.

The incident remains under investigation, which will be forwarded to prosecutors to determine if other charges will be filed.
