LIMA — Apollo Career Center is offering orientation for the counties of Allen, Auglaize, Mercer, Van Wert and Paulding for its ABLE/GED/ESOL courses.
The next orientations will be held Monday and Tuesday. This orientation will provide the requirements and offerings of the FREE ABLE program. Individuals will work one-on-one, in small and large groups, on computers and distance education will also be available to all students.
The test requirements will be shared for those wanting to take the GED test. The test is made up of four sections: math, reading and language, social studies and science. The instructors can help prepare students for the new test by offering free pre-tests, computer instruction, and individual subject instruction to meet the requirements to pass the new GED test. The test is $120, but an $80 voucher is being offered for students to take the official test.
FREE ABLE instruction is also available for students with a high school diploma, but who want to update their basic skills, prepare for job search, and prepare for post-secondary instruction.
English as a Second Language classes are offered at Apollo. The next orientation is Jan. 11.
Orientation on Monday will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at Ohio Means Jobs Allen County.
Orientation on Tuesday will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. at Apollo Career Center Adult Education; from 9 a.m. to noon at Celina WOCAP; from 9 a.m. to noon at Forest Park United Methodist Church; from 5 to 8 p.m. at St. Paul Church, St. Marys; from 6 to 9 p.m. at Vantage Career Center and from noon to 3 p.m. at Paulding.
