CELINA — Celina sophomore Lauren Jackson considers it a world full of opportunities, and she is considering which path to take.
Lauren, 16, said she had always thought of going into the medical field. After watching her parents work in the field, however, she is considering other paths. She hasn’t written a career in the medical field off, but she is going to look at other options.
“I am considering a lot of different things,” Lauren said. “When I was younger I always wanted to go into the medical field, but watching the stress my mother and father had at their jobs, I am thinking about other things.”
Lauren’s mother, Holly, is a registered nurse, and her father is a physician assistant.
Two other options have risen to the top of the list of consideration for Lauren. She is considering a career in the military or going to college to study journalism. Recently, she received a letter from the U.S. Naval Academy as a possible option.
“I am heavily considering that,” Lauren said. “If I didn’t join the military, I would like to go out West to school somewhere.”
She has a friend attending Colorado University, one of many places she is considering.
Whatever path she takes, Lauren is building a solid foundation to get started. She is carrying a 3.68 GPA at Celina High School. She is also the sophomore class president and a member of the German Club and National Honor Society.
Lauren is also thriving athletically. She won the 800 meter run in the Western Buckeye League as a freshman in track, and she is also a member of the basketball and cross-country teams. She just missed qualifying for state in the 800 meter run but is looking forward to three more cracks at it.
In her spare time, Lauren said she likes to paint and spend time with her friends.
Lauren is the daughter of Kevin and Holly Jackson and is the youngest of three children.
