HARDIN COUNTY —The Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife announced additional deer hunting dates in the Chronic Wasting Disease surveillance areas, including Auglaize and Jackson townships in Allen County, as well as Hardin, Marion and Wyandot ounties.
ODNR is also requiring CWD sampling at six locations including the Hardin County Fairgrounds, 14134 county Road 140, Kenton; and McGuffey Conservation Club, 6950 township Road 55, Ada.
Archery hunting season starts Saturday, Sept. 14, and early gun hunting season runs from Saturday, Oct. 12 to Monday, Oct. 14.
ODNR said 50 wild deer tested positive for the fatal brain disease, with one case each in Allen and Hardin counties since 2020.
Participation in the testing is voluntary outside of Oct. 12 and 13, and Dec. 2 and 3.
