Homeownership workshop coming to Lima

LIMA — The Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America also known as NACA is coming back to Lima. NACA is a national organization that assists community members in purchasing a home. In April, a NACA event was held to help give mortgages to those pursuing homeownership.

“The impact of the NACA program is starting to become evident as more Lima residents work towards qualifying to become homeowners,” said Mayor Sharetta Smith in a recent press release. “In partnershop with NACA, we are breaking down the barrierse to make the dream of homeownership attainable for our citizens.”

Local resident Courtney Owens weighed in on the recent press release as well.

“It (the April worskhop) made home ownership a reality without seeming like it was jumping through a bunch of hoops,” said Owens. “It was broken down into sections that were really manageable to the average person. It made the goal crystal clear, like man I can actually do this.”

The next event will take place from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 10 at Lima Senior High School, 1 Spartan Way. The release also said new participants are able to attend the free workshops from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
