Elida places new levy on primary ballot

ELIDA — Elida council held a meeting that resulted in a new tax levy being placed on the primary ballot.

“It will be a renewable levy for five years,” said Dave Metzger, village administrator. “The reason the council liked that is that if we are not holding up our end of the bargain in five years and people vote it out then that is what it is. The levy is 4.5 mil, which will bring in approximately $200,000 a year.”

The levy will be used to meet the needs of the Elida police department.

Metzger added that a letter will be placed in the February water bill for March explaining the levy to residents. Elida will also host a public session for community members who have concerns or questions.
