Allen County Sheriff’s Office offering training at Rhodes State

LIMA — Up to five people will have the opportunity to receive free police training at Rhodes State through an Allen County Sheriff’s Office pilot program.

According to a press release, the sheriff’s office will fund the attendence of future deputies to the Basic Police Officer Academy. Cadets will receive full-time medical benefits and pay during their time in the academy.

After certification, the individuals will be hired on as deputies for the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, according to the release.

Interested individuals can apply on the ACSO website by Feb. 23. Interviews will begin Feb. 27 and selected candidates will start the program in April.

Ohio Means Jobs Allen County will hold informational meetings on Feb. 21 at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.

According to the release, the program “offers a solution” to a staffing shortage the office faces.
