Four new firefighters sworn in

LIMA — The Lima Fire Department has four new firefighters. Joseph Morlino, Micah Chambers, Courtney Honcell and Reed Warnement were sworn in at the Mayor’s Press Conference Wednesday morning.

“I really appreciate the men and women of our fire department and the work you all do,” said Mayor Sharetta Smith. “Particularly, looking at how your job has expanded over the years in response to COVID and being responsible for the health and safety of our community.”

Friends and family members joined the ceremony as the four firefighters officially joined the department.

“One thing I love about this ceremony is those are not just words,” added Chief Andy Heffner. “They learned they are their brother’s keeper. That is what I find remarkable. They have taken this oath and said I will be there when it is bad, good, night, day and through storms. The Lima Fire Department is going to be there.”
