A Year in the Life

Want to learn more about and better appreciate nature? Check out “A Year in the Life,” which will take participants on a visual journey through the seasonal progressions of nature. The event will take place at the Johnny Appleseed Metro Park District’s McElroy Environmental Education Center, 2355 Ada Road, Lima.

Shoot n Scoop

5:15 to 6 p.m. Friday

Get your youngster interested in basketball while indulging their sweet tooth at the same time. Shoot n Scoop is a class for boys and girls ages 3 through 6 that teaches basketball skills followed by a scoop of ice cream. Class will run Fridays through Feb. 10 at the Lima Family YMCA, 345 S. Elizabeth St. The cost is $12 for members and $24 for non-members. Registrations can be made in person or online at http://www.limaymca.net.

End of Work Week Party

7 p.m. Friday

Get the weekend off to a good start with an end-of-the-work-week party at 7 p.m. at the Lima Elks Lodge, 302 W. North St. Enjoy some great food and the sounds of Probable Cause at this free event.

Family Dance Night

5 to 10 p.m. Saturday

It will be a fun night for the whole family at the Capabilities Community Club-Lima’s Family Dance Night from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Harrod Event Center, 9520 Harrod Road. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Breakfast

8 a.m. Monday

The annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Breakfast will be held at 8 a.m. Monday at Veterans Memorial Civic Center, 7 Town Square, Lima. Featuring the theme, “Soaring to Greater Heights,” this free event will feature a keynote address by Pastor Stephen L. Terry Sr. of New Life Church of God and Grace Gathering Central in Fort Wayne, Indiana. A statement of occasion will also be given by Lima Mayor Sheretta Smith, and entertainment will be provided by recording artist Marlyce Roberson-McCants.
