Rhodes State, Bradfield team up for phlebotomy program

LIMA — Rhodes State College is partnering with the Bradfield Center to provide phlebotomy training at the center, located at 550 S. Collett St.

The classes will begin Jan. 9 and run through April 28, meeting from 5:30 to 8:20 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays. The four credit-hour course will involve both classroom instruction and clinical practice.

Phlebotomy involves drawing blood from patients, so it is a skill in demand at hospitals, nursing homes, physician offices and private laboratories. Along with the skills to draw blood, participants will learn how to relate effectively with patients, as they are often one of their first points of contact. Phlebotomy has also served as a point of entry into other careers in the medical field.

Anyone interested in participating is encouraged to contact the Rhodes State College Office of Admissions at 419-995-8320 or to go to http://www.rhodesstate.edu/bradfield. An open house will also be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Bradfield Center.

Eligible students may be able to receive funding for this program.
