Green thumbs gather at plant swap

LIMA — Lima Allen County Neighborhoods in Partnership and Activate Allen County hosted a “Plant Swap” at the LACNIP garden at the corner of Spring and Collett Streets on Saturday.

Josh Unterbrink of Activate Allen County said, “This is our first annual one, just trying to bring the community together of some like-minded individuals that have a passion for growing houseplants.”

“It’s a good way for us to promote community gardens as well as trying to have some fellowship around folks who have similar interests. Just a good way to bring people together, talk about health and wellness, community and community gardens,” Unterbrink said.

In addition to air quality improvements, studies have shown that indoor plants may help reduce stress levels. They may sharpen your attention, be therapeutic, help a person to recover from illness quicker, boost productivity and improve your outlook on life.

Additional plant swaps are being considered for winter and spring.
