Pit bull mauls 2-year-old girl in St. Henry

ST. HENRY — Sheriff deputies were investigating a dog mauling incident Monday that injured a 2-year-old girl.

The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 3:45 p.m. from a woman at 4009 Lange Road advising that her dog was attacking her daughter. A St. Henry officer responded and took action to “put down” the dog, which was a member of the pit bull breed, after it charged the officer, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

The girl was taken to a hospital in Coldwater where she was treated for injuries. The incident remained under investigation late Tuesday, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
