Pit bull attacks 2-year-old girl

ST. HENRY — A 2-year-old girl sustained serious injuries after being mauled by a pit bull Wednesday in St. Henry.

At 3:45 p.m. Mercer County Central Dispatch received a 911 call from the resident at 4009 Lange Rd, St. Henry advising that her dog was attacking her daughter. The St. Henry Police Department responded to the call, as deputies were not in the immediate area. The dog then charged the responding police officer and was killed, according to the sheriff’s office.

The daughter was transported with her mother to Coldwater ER. The incident remains under investigation.

The sheriff’s office did not release the name of the mother and daughter and the St. Henry Fire Department could not be reached for comment. The property is owned by Alan Rinderle, according to the Mercer County Auditor’s website.
