Trial date moved back for ex-cop accused of rape

LIMA — The trial date for a former Lima Police Department officer fired after he was accused of raping a 16-year-old girl was moved back to Dec. 7.

Justin Bentz, 27, is charged with rape, kidnapping, two counts of sexual battery, and offenses involving underage people. He faces up to a maximum of 32 years in prison.

Bentz was arrested in June after a short investigation involving an early morning incident June 11 at a house in the 6000 block of Agerter Road. He was living with a couple in that house where the incident occurred, officials said.
