Kindergarten, new student registration scheduled

LIMA — Any kindergarten or new student still needing to register at Lima City Schools can come to Lima Senior High School from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Parents should bring their child’s Social Security card, immunization records, birth certificate, current physical, Medicaid or insurance card and custody papers (if applicable).

Schedule pick-up dates released for Shawnee students

LIMA — Shawnee High School has announced students can pick up their schedules in the east office of the high school from 8 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 2:30 p.m. beginning next week.

Seniors and juniors can pick up their schedules Monday, sophomores, Tuesday, and freshman, Wednesday. Students will also have their pictures taken on those dates,

Any student who has a conflict with their assigned picture day may have their picture taken on either of the other two days or on Oct. 13.

Allen East to host open house

HARROD — Allen East Local Schools will hold an open house from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 31.

Elida High School announces schedule pick-up

ELIDA — Class schedules can be picked up in the Elida High School academic office from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and noon to 2:30 p.m. starting next week.

Freshman can pick up their schedules Aug. 20, sophomores, Aug. 21, juniors, Aug. 24, and seniors, Aug. 25.

An open house will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Sept. 2.

The program will begin at 8 a.m. in the Lima Senior High School gymnasium and will last about two hours.

Registration dates scheduled for Franklin Elementary

DELPHOS — Registration, open house and parent meeting dates have been released by Franklin Elementary School.

These dates include:

Kindergarten and first-grade registration: 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Second- and third-grade registration: 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 19.

Fourth- and fifth-grade registration: 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 20.

Kindergarten parent meeting: 6 p.m. Aug. 24.

Open house: 6 to 7 p.m. Aug. 26.

ONU move-in day to feature variety of activities

ADA — Ohio Northern University opens its doors to the 2015-16 academic year with the traditional move-in day for incoming freshmen and new students Aug. 20. Classes begin Aug. 24.

After move-in day, a series of activities will highlight welcome weekend. After moving in, freshmen will be formally welcomed by ONU President Daniel DiBiasio at a convocation event beginning at 4 p.m. in the ONU Field House. The traditional Greekapalooza, the Greek social activity for new students, is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Aug. 22 on the Tundra. At 2 p.m. Aug. 23, Welcome Fest will be held in the ONU Field House.

The fourth annual Ada Civic Engagement Day, a program designed to engage incoming students with the community, will take place at 9 a.m. Aug 22. A partnership with the village of Ada, ACE Day provides opportunities for ONU’s first-year students to not only engage in the community but also contribute to the village’s beautification, according to a news release.

Motivational speaker to open school year for staff

LIMA — Staff at Lima City Schools will begin the school year hearing from nationally recognized speaker, author and humorist Jack Berckemeyer.

Berckemeyer will be the keynote speaker at the district’s opening day staff program on Monday. School begins for students the following day.

Marathon signs agreement with UF

FINDLAY — Marathon Petroleum Corporation and The University of Findlay have announced that Marathon has entered into a three-year contribution and support agreement with UF’s Environmental, Safety and Occupational Health Program that will fund scholarships, facility and equipment upgrades and a faculty internship program.

The agreement outlines several key items to be implemented immediately through 2017. Highlights include: internship opportunities for ESOH students at Marathon; opportunities for UF faculty members to complete unique faculty internships at Marathon; funding for laboratory upgrades and new equipment; funding for faculty development, scholarships and student organizations; and Marathon employees to serve as guest lecturers.
