Broken gas regulator leads to Ada schools evacuation

ADA — A broken gas regulator forced both buildings in the Ada school district to be briefly evacuated Monday.

Superintendent Suzanne Darmer said the district evacuated both the K-12 and the preschool buildings as a precautionary measure at about 11 a.m. after it was learned that the gas regulator was not functioning. School officials immediately contacted the Ada Fire Department and the gas was shut off.

Darmer said building maintenance workers were in contact with personnel to fix the regulator and children were back in the building about five minutes after it was evacuated. Darmer said the building was deemed safe.
