JTD Hospital Foundation awards scholarships
ST. MARYS — The Joint Township District Hospital Foundation has awarded $1,000 nursing scholarship to Monica Hemmelgarn of Marion Local for the 2016-17 school year. Hemmelgarn is studying nursing at the University of Cincinnati.
Zachary Hotlzapple, of Wapakoneta, received the 2016 Pre-Med scholarship. This scholarship was in the amount of $3,000.
Elyssa Sherriff, of Celina, and Amber Paul, of Minster, both received $1,000 scholarships to continue their nursing degree.
Six $1,000 scholarship were awarded from the Johnsen Family Scholarship Fund, an endowment held by the Foundation for area high school seniors who plan to pursue a career in various allied health care fields. These $1,000 scholarships were awarded to: Monica Ebbing, Celina High School; Jessica Berelsman, Minster High School; Alyson Elking, New Bremen High School; Abigail Lageman, New Knoxville High School; Rochelle Sudman, St. Marys Memorial High School; and Rachael Schneider, Wapakoneta Senior High School.
Wittenberg University releases 2016 dean’s list for spring semester
SPRINGFIELD — Wittenberg University recognizes students who maintain high educational standards. The following students maintained a 3.5 or higher GPA for the 2016 Spring semester and earned a place on the dean’s list:
Tyler Begg, of Columbus Grove; Bradley Fisher, Maryssa Herschler and Corey Stump, all of Lima; and Jessica Jeffries, of St. Marys.
Mathias on dean’s list at Logan University
ELIDA — Bo Mathias, of Elida, was named to the dean’s list at Logan University for the Spring 2016 semester. He is the son of Dan and Tracy Mathias, of Elida.
To qualify for the dean’s list, a student must achieve at least a 3.5 GPA or above while enrolled in a regular, full-time schedule of classes.
Mathias is expected to complete a curriculum encompassing basic and clinical (diagnostic) sciences, chiropractic science, research and patient care. To receive the Doctor of Chiropractic degree, a student must complete 10 trimesters of study.
Benjamin makes Horizon League Honor Roll
LIMA — Indiya Benjamin, of Lima and a Youngstown State University student-athlete in the basketball program, was named to the 2016 spring Horizon League Academic Honor Roll.
Candidates must meet three crideria to qualify for the Horizon League Honor Roll:
1.) Participation in at least one of the league’s 19 sports during the most recent season.
2.) Completion of three semesters as a ful-time student at the same institution.
3.) A cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale).

ATHENS — Ohio University recognizes students who maintain a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the semester through a schedule of classes totaling at least 15 hours, 12 of which were taken for letter grades.

University of Findlay Class of ‘66 seeking veterans
FINDLAY — To celebrate its 50th reunion, the University of Findlay Class of 1966 is seeking names of veterans who attended the University to be included on the Veterans Honor Wall in the Center for Student Life and College of Business, which is being constructed and expected to open for the Fall 2017 semester.
