Fort Jennings resident receives scholarship

LIMA — Alec Lindeman, of Fort Jennings, received a scholarship from the 50 Strong Foundation.

The 50 Strong Foundation is a nonprofit that awards scholarships to people already engaged in or interested in pursuing careers in manufacturing. The scholarship was awarded through the Apollo Career Center and is the only scholarship offered for students who are entering short-term programs.

The scholarship provided Lindeman with financial assistance for the CNC Operator course at Apollo Career Center. He has recently completed his CNC Operator Certificate.

Additional 50 Strong Foundation scholarships are available through the Apollo Career Center for courses offered throughout the summer. To apply, contact the Apollo Career Center’s Adult Education Department at 419-998-2990.

Brickner graduates from Missouri S&T

VAN WERT — Virginia R. Brickner received her MBA degree in business administration from Missouri University of Science and Technology on May 14.

UNOH program listed in top 30 affordable online bachelor degrees

LIMA — The University of Northwestern Ohio’s accounting program has been ranked as one of the top 30 affordable online bachelor’s degrees in accounting.

UNOH offers three different bachelor’s degrees in accounting. Students can choose the accounting CPA track, forensic accounting track or accounting track.

The accounting CPA track is a five-year program that gives students the extra credits needed to sit for the CPA exam. The forensic accounting track prepares students to sit for the certified fraud examiner exam. The third track is accounting, and this program provides an intensive study of the accounting and finance field.

Local students graduate from Fort Hays State University

HAYS, Kansas — Local students were among the 2,111 who completed associate, bachelor’s or graduate degrees at Fort Hays State University in the spring of 2016.

Brookelynn Michele Diaz, of Findlay, graduated with a bachelor of arts in psychology.

Brooke Lynn Purcell, of Kenton, graduated with a master of science in special education.

Columbus Grove resident on President’s List

COLUMBUS GROVE — Nicole Langhals, of Columbus Grove, earned a perfect 4.0 semester grade point average for the spring of 2016 at the University of Akron. She joined nearly 800 other students on the President’s List at the University of Akron.

University of Akron releases Dean’s List for spring of 2016

AKRON — Some 3,400 students made the spring 2016 Dean’s List at the University of Akron. To be eligible, recipients maintained a GPA of 3.5 to 3.999 and were enrolled in 12 or more credit hours.

Marincic named to St. Olaf Dean’s List and graduates

NORTHFIELD, Minn. — Michaela Marincic, of Findlay, has been named to the St. Olaf College Dean’s List for the spring 2016 semester.

She is the daughter of Beverly Marincic and is a graduate of Findlay Senior High School. Marincic is majoring in English.

Marincic graduated Summa Cum Laude from St. Olaf College on May 29.

Olivet Nazarene University releases Dean’s List

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — Area students have been named to the Dean’s List at Olivet Nazarene University, including Brooke Bahr, of Kenton, and Anna Burkey, of Lima.

To qualify, students must have been enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student and attained a semester GPA of 3.50 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Kent State recognizes students on President’s List

KENT — Kent State recognized more than 975 undergraduate students named to the President’s List for spring 2016. Undergraduate students who obtain a 4.0 GPA while maintaining 15 or more credit hours during the spring qualify to receive the honor.

Local students named included Matthew Bahr, of Kenton; Heather Barhorst, of Minster; Alycia Quellhorst, of St. Marys; and Kenneth Jackson, of Fort Jennings.

Whitaker named to Dean’s List at Mount Vernon

WAPAKONETA — Jenna Adele Whitaker has been named to the Dean’s List for the 2016 spring semester at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. To be eligible for the dean’s list, a student must carry a minimum of 12 credit hours and have maintained a GPA of 3.5 or above.

Whitaker is a sophomore majoring in biology (pre-physician assistant). She is a 2014 graduate of Waynesfield-Goshen High School and is the daughter of David and Kathy Whitaker, of Wapakoneta.

Perkins graduates from Shawnee State University

VAN WERT — Daniel Perkins, of Van Wert, graduated from Shawnee State University on May 7. Perkins received a bachelor of science degree in digital simulation and gaming engineering technology.

Pohl earns dean’s list status at BCOMP

BLUFFTON — Robin Pohl, of Cairo, has been named to the Bluffton Cohort-based Organizational Management Program for the fall term. Students with a GPA of 3.75 or higher are eligible for the dean’s list.

BCOMP is an accelerated degree-completion program that creates a dynamic, learning community for all adults. Students who complete the program demonstrate commitment to personal development and professional advancement within the area of organizational management.

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Neva Adams, of Bluffton, has been named to the University of Iowa’s Dean’s List for the 2016 spring semester.

Undergraduate students must achieve a GPA of 3.50 or higher on 12 semester hours or more to be eligible for the Dean’s List.
