LIMA — A couple days a week, Ohio State-Lima students Logan Mitchell and Kaci Miller spend their afternoon taking prospective students on tours, answering questions and guiding them through each building on campus.
It’s an important job, says OSU-Lima Admissions & Financial Aid Counselor Meredith Kincaid.
“Their job is super important because they let the prospective student experience what makes this campus come to life,” Kincaid said. “For them to be able to say, ‘I went to class here’ or ‘this is what this professor is like,’ it’s one of the most important things.”
Campus visits occur daily, one at 10 a.m. and another at 2 p.m. Tour groups vary from just a couple students and their families to groups of 20 or more, though Kincaid said larger tours usually happen during open houses that occur a few times a year.
Though it’s just one of many jobs on campus, Kincaid said their role as tour guides is vital in bringing more students to the university.
“Without our student ambassadors like Logan and Kaci, I think our office would shut down pretty quickly,” Kincaid said. “They do a lot here.”
