Fire causes $10,000 damage to Elida building

ELIDA — A fire at an abandoned commercial building caused $10,000 in damage Wednesday.

The fire at 104 E. Kiracofe Ave., Elida, was called in at 3:49 p.m. It was contained to a room inside the building. A person created a living area inside the building, but fire officials are not releasing the person’s name, said Neil Goodwin, a firefighter with the American Township Fire Department.

No one was injured. The fire remains under investigation. The building is owned by Legend Holdings Inc., Goodwin said.
