LCA students win competition
LIMA — Three Lima Christian Academy students took first place in the American Legion’s Americanism and Government Test Program.
Senior Dylan Pettigrew, junior Sharah Pettigrew and sophomore Kayla Stump each came in first place at the Allen County level.
Each year the American Legion, in an effort to encourage patriotism and civic knowledge and responsibility in high school students across the land, administers its Americanism and Government Test. The test covers topics such as current events, and municipal, county, state and national government questions.
Lima schools at Christmas Tree Festival
LIMA — Lima schools will be represented well at this year’s Christmas Tree Festival at the Allen County Museum.
Kindergarten through fourth-grade artwork will be on display in the museum’s Folsom Auditorium throughout the festival. The festival runs from Dec. 3 to 7.
Schools represented are Freedom, Heritage, Independence and Unity elementary schools and South Science and Technology Magnet School. The district’s other school buildings have art exhibits at the museum later in the school year.
Local students place in state competition
BUCYRUS — Students from Lima Christian Academy competed in the annual Buckeye Christian School Association Elementary Speech Contest held Nov. 17 in Bucyrus.
Going up against other schools in BCSA, four of Lima Christian’s students placed in the final ratings with three of the four gaining first place.
Sixth-grader Lindsey Stump, fifth-grader Charis Stump and third-grader Sarah Fickel placed first, while first-grader Giana Rudolph came in second place.
Holiday in Harmony coming Dec. 5
LIMA — Lima Senior High School will present its annual Holiday in Harmony show at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 5 in the high school auditorium.
This year’s theme is “Through the Eyes of a Child.” The show will give audience members the chance to hear and see the holidays like children do. According to a news release, this year’s show is family-friendly, featuring songs the whole family will know.
The production will feature Lima Senior choirs and student soloists. Select students from Liberty Arts Magnet School will also appear on stage this year.
Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children. Tickets are available at the door or they can be preordered from a Lima Senior choir member.
Paulding wins NWC Scholastic Bowl
DELPHOS — Paulding won the Northwest Conference Scholastic Bowl competition with a 7-1 record in matches held at Delphos Jefferson High School. Bluffton, Jefferson and Spencerville tied for second with 5-3 records in the competition followed by Ada, Crestview, Columbus Grove, Lincolnview and Allen East.
The NWC Scholastic Bowl is an annual competition among schools in the conference with teams of four students competing in a round robin quiz bowl competition.
