LIMA — The Allen County Republican Central Committee unanimously chose chief deputy director Brion Rhodes to finish the current term of Allen County Engineer.
“This is a great opportunity,” Rhodes said.
Rhodes, of Bluffton, has been serving as the chief deputy director in Allen County since 2009. He has been with the engineer’s office since 1999. He fills the spot left vacant by Tim Piper, who announced he would be stepping down in May, effective the end of July.
“Tim was a great county engineer,” Rhodes said. “I am confident I will follow in his footsteps.”
Rhodes said he would work hard on securing government funding to the county. He said as one of his first orders of business, he is looking forward to finishing up the Shawnee Road roundabout project.
Rhodes said he plans to run for the position, which will have primaries in March 2016 and be elected in November 2016. He has the backing of his party.
“Based on his qualifications, he has the party’s unanimous support,” said Allen County Republican Party chairman Keith Cheney. “The engineer’s office was a great opportunity and training ground for him, and he is our endorsed candidate.”
