DELPHOS — K&M Tire has acquired Kelle Oil Co. Wholesale Tire Division of Braman, Oklahoma.

The purchase was effective Friday and includes the tire inventory and a customer list of Kelle’s wholesale tire customers. Kelle distributed about 10 different brands of tires in the farm, commercial and passenger, and light truck tire industry.

Kelle Oil will continue to operate under that name and focus solely on its retail and commercial tire store, and oil distribution.

K&M plans to service its new customers from the company’s existing warehouses in Oklahoma City and Wichita.

“We are very excited about this opportunity with Kelle Oil to expand and add to our customer base in Kansas and Oklahoma,” said Cheryl Gossard, K&M Tire vice president.

At the Delphos headquarters, K&M has about 150 employees. There are more than 500 employees nationwide with the company, said Bonnie Marlow, a spokeswoman for K&M.

Marlow did not have numbers on how many employees Kelle Oil has.

K&M was founded in 1970 and operates 18 distribution centers in 11 states in the Great Lakes area, Midwest, Great Plains and South Central region servicing customers in more than 20 states.

The company distributes about 20 brands of tires for passenger and light trucks, 12 brands of truck tires, and 10 brands of farm tires.
