LIMA — Laci Sherer, of Lima, will be turning 10 on July 21. While most 10-year-olds are asking for the latest techno-gadget as a present, Sherer is requesting donations for hospitalized children at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.
Laci will be a fifth grader at Bath Elementary School this fall. Her parents are Howard and Joy Sherer, of Lima.
“She has a little girl in her class at Bath that has leukemia that has been going to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, in Columbus. One month ago she [Laci] was a patient there for kidney stones. She liked how she was treated there,” said her mom.
“Approximately three weeks ago she came and asked if she could do this. She said, Mom, I really want to do this,” her mother said.
Her parents contacted WTGN Radio, and they are hosting a present collection party at WTGN Radio, on Elida Road from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Anyone can stop and donate a children’s present at that time. The Sherer family will be taking the presents to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus on Laci’s birthday.
