LIMA — A two-vehicle accident sent one person to the hospital with minor injuries Tuesday morning.

At 7:56 a.m. a woman, whose name has not yet been released, driving a teal Ford Taurus was southbound on North Washington Street when she attempted to cross West North Street in heavy traffic, according to witness reports to the Lima Police Department. The Taurus hit a Jeep Cherokee, causing it to roll over several times before the vehicle came to rest on its hood on top of a traffic sign, according to the Lima Fire Department.

The driver of the Cherokee, also a woman whose name has not yet been released, was able to get out of the vehicle and was transported to St. Rita’s Medical Center as a precautionary measure after she noted back pain after the accident. The driver of the Taurus was uninjured.

A tow truck was called to the scene to flip the Cherokee back over, and the scene was cleared at 9:10 a.m. The crash remains under investigation.
