LIMA — WAR Wrestling will pack a one-two punch this week with “Endgame” and “Queen of WAR,” the first all-female event.
WAR Wrestling held its first main event for women last year and with the response decided to move forward with an all-female card.
“Women’s wrestling is so popular at this point, and we’ve come a long way from where we were,” said Amanda Gesler, spokesperson for War Wrestling. “Women used to just be valets, the girls who walked with guys into the ring, or women’s matches were in bras and panties or mud wrestling. For women who watched wrestling as a child, it was kind of degrading. Now we’re to the point where women are main eventing and are as respected as athletes just as men are.”
The one-night event will be played tournament style with one Queen of WAR named at the end of the night. The matchups will include Joseline Navarro vs. Holidead, Paloma Starr vs. Shawna Reed, Cali Young vs. Raylyn and a round between Randi West, Kitty LaFleur, Nikki Victory and Zoey Skye.
Not only will the entire card be packed with women, but the referees, ring announcer, commentators and staff will be women as well.
“It’s one of those things where we haven’t had to incorporate women because we’ve always had a spot on the card for them, but we are very proud to be able to do an event entirely of women,” Gesler said. “This is the first of its kind in this area of an all-female everything from talent to the crew, and we’re really excited that the fans are excited.”
“Endgame” will follow on Saturday night with Starr and Reed returning to the stage with headliners Matthew Taylor and the Revolution, Shane Foster, Cody Jones, Austin Manix, Mojo, Aaron Williams, Orlando Christopher. A ticket bundle for both events is available for $15 for general admission and $20 for VIP.
