LIMA — The Ohio State University at Lima’s newest exhibit in the Farmer Family Gallery will allow guests to peer into private spaces.

Photographer Bruce Polin’s “Deep Park” is a series of about 25 to 30 portraits taken in Prospect Park in Brooklyn, New York, that examines private spaces within the larger public spectrum. Through his large-format film camera, Polin captured park goers in their natural habitats.

Gallery curator and campus professor Ed Valentine said he and Polin have been friends for over 40 years, but it was his newest exhibit that piqued his interest.

“We recently reconnected, and I really really fell in love with what he was doing,” Valentine said. “When I knew him 40 years ago, he was a photographer. It’s not often you see someone continuing in the arts for 40 years and not getting a whole lot of recognition. I wanted to do something to help this exhibit get a little more exposure.”

Valentine said when you’re standing in front of the pieces, you can see the composition and narrative behind the image, right down to the freckles on the faces.
