LIMA — The Lima Symphony Orchestra opens its season Saturday with Cirque De La Symphonie which features acrobats, aerial flyers and contortionists.
”We have had Cirque here a couple of years ago and it was a rousing success and we’ve received so many requests and inquiries about it that we decided to bring them back. It’s the perfect event to start our season. It’s stunning, it’s dazzling, it’s not really just a concert, it’s truly an experience,” said Sara Chongson, marketing and ticketing coordinator for the Lima Symphony Orchestra.
The flyers, acrobats and contortionists will perform choreographed routines to the symphony’s music.
“You have our gorgeous symphony orchestra — they stand alone always, just hearing them play is a gorgeous, beautiful experience — but when you add a visual element it can be very interesting. We are excited, and we know that these days there seems to be a trend in entertainment, people like more of an experience where they can kind of see two things at one time, so we’re so happy to offer that,” said Chongson.
Working with the professionals from Cirque has been a pleasant experience, according to Chongson. And there will entertainment in the lobby prior to the concert.
“We are just so excited to be working with all of these guests artists from Cirque. It’s really a pleasure to work with such professionals who have worked all over the world. To have them in Lima is such a treat for everyone. It’s going to be an atmosphere, a feeling of festivity and joy and a wonderful way to start the season for a fantastic final year for Crafton,” said Chongson.
