VAN WERT — Niswonger Performing Arts Center’s season opens with country star Trace Adkins in concert Sunday evening.
“We love to kick off with country because it just seems to add a special depth to the beginning of the season. Our country concerts always sell extremely well,” said Tafi Stober, marketing director for Niswonger Performing Arts Center.
Adkins has had numerous top 10 hits including, “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk,” “You’re Gonna Miss This,” “Hot Mama,” “Chrome,” “Ladies Love Country Boys” and “Still a Soldier.”
“Just recently he’s been working with the Wounded Warriors, so a lot of his songs more recent are more patriotic,” said Stober.
Adkins has been in the music business for more than two decades and is a member of the Grand Ole Opry.
“Trace Adkins has a really special voice quality. He has a very deep baritone that’s really unique to him. So even if you aren’t marveling at the songs you know, you’re marveling at the quality of his voice,” said Stober.
Recently, Adkins has taken to the big screen, starring in the Christian movie, “I Can Only Imagine,” as well as TV roles.
“He’s not just making the music people want to hear, he’s also making the music that reflects what he values,” said Stober.
