1. Cincinnati Reds

Highlights: Tradition is what separates the Cincinnati Reds from other Ohio teams. It starts on the opening day of baseball season, which begins with a downtown parade, and the fun continues all summer. Grandfathers can recall the days of Ernie Lombardi, Joe Nuxhall and Frank Robinson. Parents talk about the days of the Big Red Machine with Pete Rose, Johnny Bench, Joe Morgan and Tony Perez. Younger fans carry memories of Barry Larkin and Joey Votto. The Reds have been World Series Champions in 1919, 1940, 1975, 1976 and 1990.

2. Cleveland Indians

Highlights: The Cleveland Indians are now the most popular sports team in Cleveland. With an energetic roster and a strong lead in the AL Central, the Indians look to make a push in the playoffs come October.

3. (Tie) Cleveland Browns

Highlights: Limaland loves its Browns and one voter expressed it nicely by stating, “even though they are losing.” Well, we can always hope for good things in the months ahead. With the new additions on both sides of the ball the Browns look to have gained a little swagger, as stated by linebacker Christian Kirksey. Let’s hope in December, the Best of the Lima Region honor isn’t the only award the Browns earn.

3. (Tie) Cleveland Cavaliers

Highlights: With the loss of King James, Cavalier fans look to find new hope in first round draft pick Collin Sexton. Not to mention, folks in Lima have their very own hometown boy, Dakota Mathias, who is playing on the Cavaliers summer team. With free agency now in full fledge, Cavaliers fans hope to rebuild after the loss of LeBron.
