CRIDERSVILLE — The 54th annual Cridersville Fireman’s Jamboree is this weekend, a fundraiser for the volunteer fire department.
“We use (money) for training, equipment that is not covered by state grants, FEMA grants or tax payer money. We use the money for building upkeep and grounds, blacktop, just overall anything for the properties. Basically it all stays with the fire department to run the fire department,” said Rick Miller, Fire Chief at Cridersville Fire Department.
Planning for the jamboree begins within a week or two after the previous year’s jamboree has finished.
“It takes a lot of thought process, a lot of planning to make it keep growing and keep it fresh for everybody so that you don’t see the same things. We always try to change things up and we’re pretty successful doing that,” said Miller.
One change being made this year is the jamboree is featuring entertainment tonight as well as Saturday night.
“We’re trying to increase our crowd base on Friday night as well as Saturday,” he said.
There will be four to six carnival rides for the kids to enjoy. The ride company is D & D Amusements, of Continental.
“A lot of places have those blow up bouncy house stuff. We actually have actual carnival rides. There is something there for about everybody,” said Miller.
