LIMA — The first festival of the season is this weekend.
The festival kicks off at 5 p.m. Saturday with an adult-only night for those 21 and up. There will be DJ music from 5-7 p.m. and then Brother Believe Me takes the stage from 7:30-11:30 p.m.
Sunday is family day.
“Due to construction we had to limit last year, but this year we have our mechanical rides back so that is something that the kids will be interested in knowing. We are having our Sunday chicken dinners start serving at noon until they run out. They are being provided by Harlan’s of Pandora and cost $9,” said Mary Paton, chairwoman of the festival.
The layout has changed because of the construction, so the entertainment, food and games of chance will all be under one tent.
“So even if it rains, you can come out because we will all be under one tent on Saturday night,” said Paton.
The raffle items are, once again, big items. There are OSU football tickets and Reds game tickets.
“Our 50/50 is typically around $2,000 that we pay out. Tickets for the 50/50 are $5,” said Paton.
The Big Ticket Drawing, which is $5,000, and the 50/50 drawing are Sunday evening. Tickets may be purchased ahead of time at the school or at the festival for $5 each.
“Come rain or shine because everything we have except for the mechanical rides are under tent or inside. The rain doesn’t affect us,” said Paton.
