LIMA — Faurot Park will be the place to be Sunday.
Organizer Rae Neal says the goal of Earth Day Awareness Celebration is to have fun but also to become conscious of one’s role on the environment.
“This year we are focusing on ending single-use plastic. Plastic is a major, major issue that we need to start facing and undertaking,” said Neal. “Over and over again on the news and in the newspaper, we’re seeing how the way we live is impacting our planet in such a negative way.”
Alisa McPheron, of Fat Cat Catering, will be making curry to share for free with those who attend out of ingredients that would have otherwise be thrown out.
“We are going to take food that would be considered waste due to a color imperfection and we’re going to be gathering that from local groceries, the food bank and different places. We’re using reusable food containers also that were provided by Butterfly Love,” said Neal.
There will be a kids tent with hands-on activities, Lima Senior’s moon buggy, an information tent featuring Ohio Green Party candidates, Holist Rebel, wellness activities, Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District and Urban Forest Council.
Entertainment will be The Little People Band, Resistance Singers, Homegrown Grass and Jesse Henry Trio.
