LIMA — The Lima Beane Chorus brings thoughts of summertime with two concerts this weekend.
Barbershop Harmony 2018 will be at Lima Senior High School auditorium.
“This is our 70th annual show. We were chartered in 1948. The theme of the show is Lazy, Hazy, Crazy Days of Summer,” said Lane Bushong, chorus member.
The audience will hear songs related to summer such as “Under the Boardwalk,” “California Here I Come” and “Good Old Summertime.” The show will last between two and two and a half hours.
“We have approximately 25 guys in our chorus and they range in all ages; the youngest is in eighth grade and the oldest is around 84 years old,” said Bushong. “Our music director is Anthony Taylor, who directs music at Shawnee High School.”
There will be two guest artists performing that night as well.
The Regulars are out of Columbus.
“They are fairly new, but they placed third in our district contest last year. Our district is all of Ohio, all of West Virginia, western third of Pennsylvania and a part of Kentucky,” said Bushong.
The other guest artist is The Core.
“They are our district champions of 2014 and they’ve also placed 13th in the international contest last year in Las Vegas, which is 13th in the world. One of the singers in that group is Josh Van Gorder. He is the band director at Spencerville High School,” said Bushong.
The concert will entertain everyone.
“It’s a nice show for the entire family,” said Bushong.
