LIMA — Encore Theatre presents a romantic comedy with the production of “Almost, Maine.”
This is the third play that director Jeff Kerr has directed.
“We have 12 in the cast. This play has flexible casting, so it can be done with as few as four, but we had so many talented actors audition that we ended up casting that many,” Kerr said. “I have been really impressed with my cast. We have veterans and also some people that have never been on stage before, so everyone has been very good.”
The play is structured around eight scenes. All of the scenes happen at the same time, so no two characters overlap.
“They all happen at the same time on a Friday night. There are some magical things that happen. It is about normal people dealing with love. Very normal people having extraordinary things happening and dealing with love,” Kerr said.
Kerr feels the play is family friendly but doesn’t think younger people would get as much out of it.
“This play has been produced quite a bit, and I know a lot of high schools have done versions of this play throughout the country. High school age and later would probably enjoy it most,” Kerr said.
