LIMA — Photographers who have captured life through their camera lens will have their work on the walls of the Ellen Nelson Gallery at ArtSpace/Lima starting today and running through Feb. 10 during the Annual Juried Exhibition of ArtSpace/Lima Photography Club.
“This year there are 199 entries from 77 artists. Of the total number entered, there were 88 photographs accepted, which is an acceptance rate of about 48 percent. These people are within our specified 100 mile radius. We get people mostly from the immediate surrounding counties,” said Bill Sullivan, operations manager at ArtSpace/Lima.
There are seven categories of photographs entered which include animals, architecture, landscape, plant, portrait, still life and miscellaneous. There is an eighth category for youth.
“The photography club finds professional jurors and this year the jurors were both professional photographers, Kevin Taylor from Toledo and Charles Zelms from the Columbus area,” said Sullivan.
The opening reception for the ArtSpace Photography Club Annual Juried Exhibit will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today. Prizes totaling nearly $1,000 will be awarded at 7:15 p.m.
“There is a Best of Show, both best color and best black and white. First and second places in each category and a slew of honorable mentions. There is a club merit award which is awarded only to a member of the club. There will be various youth awards as well,” said Sullivan.
