LIMA — The Lima Area Concert Band presents “Welcome to the Cabaret” this weekend.
“This is a more informal concert that features folks sitting at tables and we serve light refreshments,” said Marilyn Roth Basinger, assistant conductor. “It’s at the Civic Center and specifically in the exhibit hall this time to accommodate all of the tables. It is sponsored by Orthopaedic Institute of Ohio, which is a new sponsor for us this year. This is probably our most popular concert.”
The music will be lighter with Cassie Collins singing “Someone To Watch Over Me,” a medley of Eric Clapton songs will be played onstage, the Grand Lake Symphony Brass Ensemble will be playing, there will be a flute choir playing and several other assorted ensembles, as well as The Three Tenors.
“The Three Tenors are doing ‘Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,’ and we’re doing ‘Hang on Sloopy’ for the Ohio State fans,” said Roth Basinger. “It’s a fun concert for people to come to and have a good time.”
The Lima Area Concert Band will perform Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless The USA.”
“People normally like that one,” said Roth Basinger.
The concert will last approximately an hour and 45 minutes.
The following day, the Lima Area Concert Band is playing at 7 p.m. at the Summer Moon Festival in downtown Wapakoneta.
