McDonald’s to test Chicken Big Mac

Mickey D’s has upped the ante in the fried chicken sandwich wars.

The fast-food giant announced plans to test a Big Mac that swaps out beef for fried chicken patties, “bringing a new twist to an old favorite.”

Starting later this month, the Chicken Big Mac will go on sale for a limited time at select McDonald’s locations in the Miami area.

The sandwich is made with two crispy tempura chicken patties and the rest of the Big Mac ingredients.

“We’re always looking to give our fans more ways to enjoy the classic menu items they know and love,” a McDonald’s spokesperson said in a statement to New York Daily News.

“While not everything we test makes it on our U.S. menus, we’ll use this time to gather feedback from both customers and restaurant crew as we consider opportunities to offer more delicious options in the future.”

The Chicken Big Mac was introduced for a limited time at McDonald’s locations in the U.K.

Last year, McDonald’s introduced three sandwiches as part of the ongoing “Chicken Sandwich Wars” that initially started when Popeye’s brought its chicken sandwich to market in 2019.
